The entertainment industry does wonders for my wanderlust.
Lights! Camera! Action!
Take a moment to think about just how many movies were filmed just in Monument Valley: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Forrest Gump, National Lampoon’s Vacation, A Million Ways to Die in the West, Back to the Future III, countless Westerns and more. Whether you believe it or not, the movie and tv industry fuels everyone’s wanderlust at least once in their lifetime. Watching movies that were filmed in places I have visited reminds me of those trips and I end up longing to go back. It is so exciting to then know that a certain actor has stood in the same spot as you! I always end up annoying my boyfriend when we watch movies filmed in certain parts of Italy because I always end up blurting out “I’ve been there!” each time they switch scenes. Shout out to Full House for making me want to visit Alamo Square Park.
Fueling My Wanderlust
Especially right now since we cannot go many places there are some TV shows and Movies that just fuel my desire to travel! At least I feel a little less stir crazy when I watch some of them because they do an amazing job taking me along their adventure. Three TV shows specifically make my wanderlust burn; Departures, Expedition Unknown, and Parts Unknown. This type of entertainment is GOLD. You learn of new destinations, cultures, languages, customs and unique celebrations. When I finish an episode that sparked my interest, I make a mental note about the place that I now want to visit. I love the adventures my favorite TV personalities take me on.

Bucket List
A great movie as well as something everyone should create. Life moves incredibly fast, but you already knew that. All you have to do is just think about how long ago you graduated from College or even High School. For me, I graduated College three years ago and it only feels like yesterday that I crossed the stage to receive my diploma. During my studies, I was taught to write five year plans, not just a life plan, but also a five year plan of all of the places I want to visit and things I want to do or accomplish. I encourage you to do the same, create your own bucket list or five year plan. If you write it, it will happen. Well it will eventually happen, sometimes the world has other plans that forces you to re-evaluate. This re-evaluation can be a good thing though! Remember to stay positive and think about the silver lining. Take advantage of having time to focus on your goals.
Vacation Time
Take it and negotiate for it! Do anything you can to give yourself some time off. Not just to stay home, although stay-cations are great. Even employers, the good ones, encourage you to take time off. Whether you go someplace or stay home, taking the time off is paramount to your own wellbeing. I don’t need to tell you that time off refreshes you and in the end helps you become more productive at work when you return. I am not talking about a simple weekend off either. I am talking a week off of work minimum. Think Eat, Pray, Love, Midnight in Paris, The Bucket List, and more. The kind of vacation that makes you truly forget about checking your email. So, write that bucket list and create a plan to make it happen.
